BLOGGIN FOR THE FIRST TIME

Alright so this is my first blog and im ready. Even downloaded an app for blogspot/googleblog. Very easy to do what I need to. So for this blog I want to talk about a controversial issue, race. In one of our books over the summer The Power of One race was a key issue. If you've read the book you have to know this. There's the mistreatment of black prisoners and the insults between black and whites. Even the young folk are involved. I also read Peggy McIntosh's article. I guess I have white privilege too, but I've never thought about it. But so much of the stuff on there is true. I feel like as a society we avoid the talk of race so much that it has become a" bad thing" to talk about. Maybe im just rambling about nonsense but I think im right with what im saying. I mean when is the last time in school we had a flat out talk about race. That's right we cannot remember. Personally I believe in equality. I don't care what a persons skin color is, just the type of human they are. A man should not be judged on the appearance of his book but rather on its chapters. Stop looking at the outside of a person and assuming they are a certain" type" of person. Get to know them if you can and look into their book. I feel as if this hapened in TPOO the atmosphere would have been different.  Bu then we would not have such a great book. So I guess what im trying to say is to not steryeotype people or put them in categories before you know them. I struggle with it but I try to not do it. Like in TPOO if someone was black then there were some people that didn't like them( ie judge.lietnt bormon)....

And one more note. In psych class the past two days we watched an episode of Oprah from 1992. There was an demonstration of racism involving eye color that was set up, but the audience didn't know it was a set up. Anyway the one big thing I got out of it was that minorities do not want to be tolerated they want to be equal. And also the US should be a salad bowl where every one is appreciated for their differences rather than a melting pot, trying to all be alike. Anyway I know I just rambled alot but thanks for reading my first blog.
